Biotech Business Development Manager (Consultant/Contractor)
Company Overview
TECQMIND is an end-to-end AI professional services and staffing partner. We build the specialized teams and infrastructure required to turn AI potential into production-scale reality. In the Biotech sector, we provide our clients with the domain-specific talent necessary to bridge the gap between biological research and AI-driven discovery.
This is a contract position where the candidate will be hired by TECQMIND and deployed to work directly with one of our premier Biotech clients.
The Role
As a Biotech Business Development Manager, you will act as a strategic catalyst for our client’s growth. You will be responsible for identifying high-value partnerships, navigating licensing agreements, and expanding the client’s footprint in the global biotech market.
Because our clients are increasingly integrating AI into their drug discovery and clinical workflows, you must be comfortable discussing the intersection of Life Sciences and Computational Technology.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership Scouting: Identify and evaluate potential collaborators, including academic institutions, Contract Research Organizations (CROs), and pharmaceutical companies.
Licensing & IP Strategy: Lead negotiations for out-licensing and in-licensing of biological assets, proprietary platforms, or AI-driven research tools.
Market Analysis: Conduct deep-dive research into therapeutic areas, competitor pipelines, and regulatory shifts to identify "white space" opportunities.
Pipeline Advocacy: Effectively communicate the value of the client’s R&D pipeline and technical capabilities to potential investors and industry partners.
Cross-Border Collaboration: Leverage TECQMIND’s global network to facilitate deals between North American entities and Asia-Pacific (specifically Taiwan) biotech ecosystems.
Deal Structuring: Work alongside legal and scientific teams to draft term sheets and manage the due diligence process for complex biotech transactions.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related Life Sciences field is required. (An MBA or Ph.D. is a significant advantage).
Experience: 4+ years of Business Development or Licensing experience specifically within the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industries.
AI/Tech Literacy: A strong understanding of how AI is applied in biotech (e.g., Protein folding, Virtual screening, Clinical trial optimization, or Bioinformatics).
Network: A proven track record of managing relationships with key stakeholders in the biotech ecosystem.
Communication: The ability to translate complex biological data into a compelling commercial narrative.
Highly Desired: Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual Proficiency: Professional fluency in English and Mandarin (written and verbal). This is highly desired to bridge communication between North American clients and the burgeoning biotech/manufacturing sectors in Taiwan.
Contractor Mindset: Experience working as a consultant or contractor, with the ability to integrate quickly into a client’s corporate culture and hit the ground running.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FDA/EMA/TFDA regulatory pathways and their impact on market entry strategy.
